I bought this kit for my toddler after reading reviews of other similar kits not made by Fisher-Price. I was mostly swayed by the brand and the "working stethoscope" promise. The kit is well-made and durable, with no sharp plastic edges or anything that looks like it could come off and become a choking hazard. The stethoscope does conduct sound, however you really need to press it to someone's chest to hear the heartbeat faintly. I will get a real stethoscope somewhere at a pharmacy to supplement this. Otherwise, all the other tools are fun to use and educational. For anyone considering a start up doctor kit, I recommend buying from a trusted brand so you know the items are of good quality with no unfinished seams/edges or the like.. this is my Fisher-Price Medical Kit reviews

When children 1-4 years old visit with their parents, I like for them to have something to occupy their time. These blocks do the trick. My how the children (and adults) love to play with them. As a teacher, I find the educational value to be excellent. I would recommend them because they help children to recognize the primary colors, building different objects, spacial planning and counting to name a few uses. This Draculaura is more awesome than I realized. The wings she is wearing are attached with a plastic piece that clips onto her shoulders and another piece that clips onto her waist. The section of plastic that runs down her back is made to look like corset lacing and has a cute pink bow at the bottom. One thing I didn't expect with the wings is that they are hinged! You can fold them back more toward her hair, or bring them forward toward her face. Also, the wings sit higher than pictured; The highest tip of her wing is as high as the top of her head. Most importantly, she can be placed on her stand while wearing her wings. Her outfit is beautiful. Her tights fade from black at the bottom to pink at the top. Her shoes have printed lacing on the sides with a heart with bat wings at the top of each. Her pink plastic collar is shaped like a spider web, and can be removed. Her hair might need some restyling since her curls were flattened in the box. She comes with a pink pail, a handheld mask, a skeleton, and a pair of pink bow earrings. The skeleton's head moves, but the body is all one piece. There is a hole in the skeleton's head where you can place one of the bow earrings. Do not miss out on this version of Draculaura. I don't know why other reviewers say this toy doesn't work, because it does! I bought 2 of them for Christmas, and both of them worked just fine. You can test it while still in the packaging (which I did), so it obviously had some sort of battery in it already, and we were playing with it right out of the package. And as long as you keep your mouth close to the microphone area when talking, and hold the "trigger" the entire time, the changed voice is by far louder than your normal voice. You can change the settings to lots of different combinations to get different voices. My six year old nephew had a blast with this, but the funny thing is, the adults enjoyed it just as much as the kids! It has one deep, Darth Vader-type voice, so of course all the adults wanted to say "Luke, I am your father!" into it, LOL. The six year old was walking around telling everyone to "Take me to your leader." in a robotic voice. It will also do high-pitched voices, and many other combos. Trying to find a game that a large number of people can play, one that can be a great equalizer of abilities, yet is always fun? Go no further than Apples to Apples. We purchased this game a year ago and it has been so well-received by the people we play it with that now many of those same people own it themselves. What higher praise can you give to a game that you play it and then want to own it yourself? The play of Apples to Apples could not be easier. It contains nothing more than two sets of cards. Each green card has an adjective or description on it (like "Awful," "Scary," or "Scintillating")while red cards have nouns (like "Waterfalls," "The CIA," "George Washington," or "Mad Cow Disease.") Each person gets a set of red cards and each will be a judge in turn for the winning answer. The judge turns over a green card and players must play a red card from their hand that they believe will line up with the word on the green card or will appeal to that round's judge. Table talk is encouraged and makes the game more fun. The judge then decides which red card best fits the green card and the one who played the winning red card wins the round. It's that simple. The fact that everyone gets to not only play, but also judge, makes the game unpredictable. Some judges will look for the most logical match, while others may go for the absurd pairing. You can also add some other tricks, too, that enliven the game. If you have six or more people playing, you can play so that the last person to play a red card has to take his back and sit out the round--makes for quick thinking and crazy answers. We've never had a single person ever dislike this game and it is the one we reach for over Cranium, Taboo, Balderdash, and all the other party games like them. For its cleverness and simple play, Apples to Apples has won numerous awards, including Games Magazine's Top 100 Games award and a special citation from Mensa. This edition is loaded with cards and has virtually unlimited gameplay. It's the best deal for the money. It is hard to tell if this version is the one that includes the wooden box (once called "The Crate Edition"), but that nice, woodburned box is truly wonderful to have and makes the game seem even more special. Purchasing this game is a true no-brainer. It's fun for a wide variety of ages and number of players, takes no time to learn, and always plays differently from one match to the next. And it's a hoot! If there is any con, it's that the cards can get a little manhandled over time since they are not fully laminated, but that's not enough to diminish the joy this game brings. My son asked for this from Santa after seeing the commercial on t.v. So I ordered it, "played" with it, and now will have to send it back. I really didn't like some of the phrases that they put on this toy. He says things like, "Obey your king", "cower in fear", "rub my feet, and massage my tail". He has over 50 phrases and some are neat, educational facts about the T-Rex. I just wish they'd have left it at that. In the car form he says, "I drive Angry!" and "This is MY road!" I thought some of those phrases were just too odd, (not to mention rude), and not appropriate for my 5 year old, (I don't want him repeating them!) We bought this for a younger relative, and she loved it. This is why we loved it: 1. It encouraged creativity. Her creations were from her own designs, and she was inspired to keep coming up with new ones. 2. She was learning how to manage her own little project from start to finish. For each piece, there were a series of steps she had to plan an execute. A valuable lesson for the future. 3. Different colors and patterns of duct tape are readily available and inexpensive at the local craft store. Resupplying this set was easy and was a gateway to all kinds of crafts at the store. 4. The primary, and best, addition in this 4th edition of Settlers is a very nice interlocking border which is placed around the game tiles. This replaces the individual hex tiles of previous editions. No longer will your tiles/pieces scatter/split apart when someone accidentally bumps the playing surface! One side of the border has the ports "built in" but you still get a bit of randomness when assembling the pieces. The flip side of the border is blank "sea" on which you can put the included port tokens for a truly random placement. The updated graphics are nice and colorful but take a bit of getting use to if you regularly play with an older edition. The box has a vacu-formed type insert designed to hold all the pieces and keep everything neat. All-in-all a nice upgrade to the 3rd edition. It's a simple sounding premise: You gather resources in order to build roads and settlements to earn points. However, there is a wonderful randomness which lends complexity to the game as the layout of the game board tiles differs with each play right down to the number on the dice needed to harvest a resource from a given tile. This makes *every* game unique. Strategy comes into play as you must determine the best location for your settlements and roads to get maximum value/points. If you've never played Settlers, find someone who has a copy and give it a try. If no one you know owns a copy, go to your local comic shop. Odds are someone there will have a copy readily available and delight in teaching the game to a new player! It's easy to learn, difficult to master, and quick to play with a typical game lasting only an hour or less. This is one of the truly classic games and belongs on the shelf of anyone who enjoys board gaming.. this is my The Settlers of Catan reviews

It is odd to rate the 'educational' value of this toy. It won't make your kid do calculus. But our baby started playing with this toy when he was about 12 weeks old. He was born 6 weeks premature, but because of his interest in this toy he developed two-handed play (an early developmental milestone) well ahead of time. I could see that perhaps an older child might not find this engaging enough, but our son still enjoys playing with it and chewing on it now as a 7 month old. PROS: The slim flexible bands make this much easier for early grasping than many things sold as rattles, which are too fat for young, small, clumsy hands to grasp. The rattle sound is not so loud as to be deafening or obnoxious It can be refrigerated for teething. Again, the slim rings fit into his small mouth so much better than many of the large bulky teethers. He has a teether that he cant yet grasp and manipulate for himself because it is so bulky. Plus, the many loops mean that there are different things to chew on no matter which way he turns it, there isn't just one "right" way to hold it. The loops also make it convenient to take with you. We hook one strap of our stroller brace through a loop and he can merrily play with it while we walk without fear that it will fall onto the ground. We receive lots of funny comments about how it looks like he is "driving" his stroller by grasping the ball like a steering wheel. Fun, engaging and helpful for developing two-handed play. Probably most appropriate as a toy for babies 3-5 months and as a teether for older children.. this is my Manhattan Toy Winkel reviews

Prior to purchasing, I searched all over to try and figure out the difference between the Ultra Stomp Rocket and the Junior Stomp Rocket Kit. Both products list for a similar price. The Junior version advertises that rockets will soar up to 100 feet in the air and the Ultra version lists a slightly higher height of up to 200 feet. But the age ranges for the 2 products are substantially different with the Junior Stomp Rocket recommending ages 3-8 and the Ultra Stomp Rocket recommending ages 8+. For my 4yo son, we started with the Junior Stomp Rocket. He LOVES it! When/If going outside is not possible, he holds the stomp pad under his arm and points the rocket and shoots the missiles around the house. Because the rockets are all foam, they do not do any damage to walls, furniture, (or mom and dad, thankfully). When outside, my son literally plays with this toy for hours, adjusting and playing around with how hard you need to stomp to get the rocket to go really high. Both the Ultra and the Junior Stomp Rocket kits come with a plastic rectangular "stomp pad" connected to a flexible tube. The end of the tube connects to one of the plastic/foam rockets (4 are includeded in each kit). There is a small plastic stand that you can put together to use as a launch base. Snap the plastic tube onto the base and stomp on the pad. Air is shot through the tube and propels the foam rocket up into the air. We now have both the Ultra and the Junior Stomp Rocket kits and the only real difference I found is in the size and shape of the rocket missiles. The Ultra Stomp Rocket missiles are larger in size and shape. They have a plastic shaft with small plastic fins on the bottom and a large foam head. The junior stomp rocket missiles are smaller and made entirely of foam. Other than that, the launching equipment for both are exactly the same. Refill Rockets for both the Junior and Ultra models come in varying colors and sell (at least on Amazon) for under $[...]. Whether you buy the Ultra Stomp Rocket (listed here) or it's sister product Junior Stomp Rocket, you will be getting a fantastic toy! This toy is so simple - no assembly required, no batteries, just easy to use and loads of fun! I do have a slight preference in favor of the Junior Stomp Rocket, only because I like the missiles that are all foam if you are going to be using the toy inside. Also, the junior version has glow in the dark refill rockets. Really cool for night time use Junior Stomp Rocket Toy Glow in the Dark Refills. My husband and I invested in the best binoculars we could afford. Our two-year-old grandson always wanted to play with them, but he is not ready to take care of them. I bought the toy binoculars so he would have a pair to take on a family trip to Montana. I gave them to him before we left home, in Maryland. He put them on, and announced that he could see Montana. He loved them so much, he took them to bed. The binoculars look and feel like real ones. They enlarge an image 250%. They have a textured grip, and best of all, a break-away strap to prevent choking. This pair has been dropped, banged against hard surfaces, and worn in the bath tub. For eleven days, they have been subject to intense use and they have survived. I'm not into clutter, but my 17 mth old son LOVES to help his daddy with projects in the garage. So, we bought him this drill which is so close to the real deal. HE LOVES IT. Plays with it every single day! Even my husband has told all his friends with youngsters they need this drill!!! It is great for drilling, but also fine motor skill screwing in the screws by hand, and pushing/pulling the nails. My sister is an occupational therapist and she thinks it's a great toy too! I still don't see how this toy is only $13! It's worth every single penny! This game is great! The colored discs are durable(but best used with socks as they stick to bare feet). I love that I can plug my mp3 player into this, it keeps the game from being too limited. This game also has three levels of play, making it perfect for the whole family! My 5 and 8 year old use the first 2 settings, depending on the song, and my friends and I have a blast using level 3. Even my 2 year old has fun "playing" this with her sisters. My son got this plane when he was 19 months old. For several months now, he has been very much into cars, trains and airplanes. I got an email from Fisher Price showing this and other new toys. I let my son watch the demo for the airplane and he was hooked. The airplane comes with a pilot, two passengers and a piece of luggage. Two of the three passenger seats as well as the pilot's seat move up and down as the plane is pushed along the ground. The plane has a side door which opens and the top is cut out for easy access to the passenger seating. When the pilot is pressed down, the plane makes noises, says a welcome to your flight message or plays a cute song. Red lights at the base of the wings flash in conjuction with the sounds. This airplane is rather big compared to many Little People toys. It is about 12 inches long, 8 inches high and 8 inches wide. It's a little bit on the heavy side too, but a handle across the top makes it easy for my son to lift it for pretend flights through the air.. this is my Fisher-Price Little People Lil' Movers Airplane reviews

Both of my 5 year old boys got a Jenga game for Christmas this past year. One got this set and the other got the set that just comes in a box. This is definitely way better because the blocks can be put away nicely in this canister. The box for the other one is flimsy & we've taped it repeatedly already. As for the game, it's fun & really easy to learn. All of us like it. Every family should have this. None of us are experts yet, but it doesn't matter. This is the fourth turtle I've reviewed from Playmates new TMNT line based off of the upcoming Nickelodeon animated series and the ninth figure I've reviewed in the line. Not much more here to say but I really like these figures. While these are mass market released toys aimed at kids rather than collectors, there are plenty of things to like about them. The turtles are definitely the best of the series, with the other figures ranging from good to pretty so-so. Here's a look at Leonardo: The Facts: Articulation: peg/hinge ball jointed knees, peg/hinge ball jointed thighs, peg/hinge ball jointed shoulders, peg/hinge ball jointed elbows, swivel wrists, ball jointed neck. Accessories: Curved sword, short katana, long katana, detachable sheathe, 3 kunai, 2 throwing stars, dagger/shiv. Positives: *I absolutely love the look of the Turtles in this line. The proportions, the colors, and the individuality of each turtle. There are no reused parts! Leonardo has his own unique dents on his chest, skin texture, and build. The head sculpt utilizes the all white eyes look under the bandanna, like most comic portrayals, which looks awesome. These might be my favorite TMNT figure ever. *Leonardo is loaded with accessories. His 3 swords are all unique and molded nicely in a grayish/metallic plastic. They are not flimsy at all. His kunai daggers, throwing star, and shiv(?) can be utilized in a number of ways to augment his primary weapons. *The articulation on Leonardo is certainly not "superposeable" but you're going to have enough to get some great poses. The figure is solid and durable, so you can fool around with this toy all day long and not worry about it breaking. That can't be said for many action figures these days. Negatives: *I'm really not sure what the little dagger/shiv is supposed to be. It's a pretty nondescript accessory that at first looked like waste from the plastic sprue the other weapons came attached to. Overall: Reviewing all of the Turtles really hasn't left me with a lot of new things to say, except for the fact that I love these guys quite a bit. They're without a doubt the best mass market action figure releases you'll likely find this year. I got this because the came EATS batteries with out care, I had avoided ordering it for mths until I just had no choice. 1. It is really long which was a welcomed surprise since I didn't want her to feel that she was attached to the wall. Downside is that it is so long that monitoring children constantly becomes important! 2. It is not a charger it is an adapter, which means there is no choice but to leave it plugged in to operate it without batteries, having my 4 yr old sitting next to a wall plug and wanting to plug and unplug her self is a bit scary. 3. SAVES you money on batteries If you have the safety concerns that I have I recommend you purchase the rechargeable battery pack instead of this. This 650 piece set is pretty good. It's all just bricks and seems to have about 3:1 ratio of small 1x4 and 1x2 bricks to 2x2 and 2x3. So if you are looking for the small narrow pieces this set has more of those. Also its just bricks, there's no flat pieces and no wheels or other special pieces. That said, this an ideal supplement for the many Lego games which in my opinion benefit from the smaller pieces. The price is pretty great too. This game is very similar to the adult card game BS. Players take turns laying down a number of character cards and stating what they played. Other players can believe the player and keep going, or call "fibber". If the person was lying and gets caught, he/she adds a nose piece to his/her glasses and takes all the cards in the discard pile. If he/she was being honest, the person who called fibber takes all the cards. The person to take the last nose piece loses. The game itself is very colorful, cute, and seems fairly durable, The 7-year-olds I play with think this game is a scream. One consistently tries to make her nose longer at every turn, putting pieces on in a rainbow pattern. The other refuses to lie, unless she is forced to. It is fun to see them learning games with more complex rules than kids classics, like Candyland. The game play is a little long, as when one person is out of cards you shuffle and re-deal until all the noses are gone. I don't think we've ever actually finished a game. The glasses aren't super comfortable, but when we need a break, we just set them on the table. As far as teaching your kids to lie, I don't think that is a problem and haven't seen any carryover into other situations. You shouldn't teach your kids to hide from adults, but that's what we do in hide and seek. You probably shouldn't revel in making your neighbors go bankrupt, but we do that in Monopoly. And you definitely don't tell your kids to take candy from a stranger, unless it is Halloween. If anything, I think this game provides an opportunity to talk about context for certain behaviors.. this is my Fibber Board Game reviews

For those of you that order these dolls based on details, which is the entire thing that makes them special to my girls, Spectra does not look like the image. She is more pastel, soft and blended. Her eyes are not "glowing" as the photo shows them to be. Definitely not that bright turquoise in the middle, it is dull, very light turquoise and also the outer eye color is not dark purple/blue it is light. Her eyes don't pop like the photo. Also, she does NOT have a side bang pony. Her bangs are just cut on an angle. HER hair is also almost one shade. Her dress is also light and the polka dots blend in, not even noticeable.
